I wrote this song for my grandfather who just recently passed away due to heart and kidney failure. He was an amazing man and inspired me beyond what I can explain. He was a professional clown, loved magic, taught me my yodelling // singing skills and above all he taught me how to enjoy life and make people smile. So thank you grandpa for everything you've done for me.. This song goes out to you.
lyrics
"GRANDFATHER OF MINE"
GO ON UP TO HEAVEN
JUST LET ME TAKE YOUR PLACE
THESE PROBLEMS ON EARTH
AREN'T FOR YOU TO FACE
I'LL TRADE MY LIFE FOR YOURS
SO THIS WORLD CAN EMBRACE
THE LIFE YOU HAVE
TO PUT A SMILE ON A FACE
SQUEEZING YOUR HAND
AND WATCHING YOUR MOUTH
AS YOUR BODY DECREASES
AND ENDS UP SOUTH
BLOOD RUNNING FROM YOUR NOSE
AND TUBES PUMPING AIR
AS MY EYES FILL WITH TEARS
AND BEGIN TO PREPARE
YOU'LL FLY AWAY
OH YOU'LL FLY AWAY FROM THIS BED
FROM THIS SCREWED UP EARTH
AND ALL THE HELL
AND ALL THIS PAIN THAT'S MADE YOU HURT
I'D TRY REACHING FOR YOUR HAND
BUT DON'T WANT TO STOP YOU FROM FLYIN' AWAY
SO JUST GO ON UP TO HEAVEN
I WON'T TRY TO TAKE YOUR PLACE
JUST LET ME CARRY ALL YOUR PROBLEMS
AND ALL THIS PAIN YOU'VE HAD TO FACE
